THE WASTE
Hungry,
So hungry,
A morsel I seek,
To satiate this ache,
Anything,something…just a little
. Off the floor, off the dust, for a crumb I do lust,
To quell the gnawing pain knifing through my belly.
Sweet Lady, can I have some of that waste you fling out?
Dear sir, can I have some of that clean water you sloshed everywhere?
Sweet child, can I have the food you upturned from your plate?
Dear cook, can I just have all the excess waste?
Think of me as the crows you feed,
Think of me as the pet dog.
Until I eat my belly cries,
So hungry,
Hungry.
