FOR AYLAN

He heard the deafening screams, bits of stone and brick flying about,

He saw his home tear apart, his wails turned to a shout.

He needed his mother’s warm hug,

he tried to block out the wild despair in her eyes,

She said they needed to leave,

to a place where happiness thrived and time flies.

They ran.

Away from home,

Away from hearth,

Away from the hell on earth,

Away from the blood bath.

And away they fled to sea,

His mother’s fervent prayers hid a plea.

Maybe the Almighty had a different plan

. Maybe He wanted to play hide and seek with little Aylan.

For turn up did the little angel on shores in deep slumber away from home,

Blanketed by Mother Sea with her downy foam.

As do tears slowly down our faces do creep,

He is safe, he is happy, he is asleep.

R.I.P Aylan.
